Steam SA is prepared to help in the fight against COVID-19

In humans, the transmission of coronaviruses between an infected individual and others can occur via respiratory secretions. This can happen either directly through droplets from coughing or sneezing, or indirectly through touching contaminated objects or surfaces.

Research has shown that the virus that causes COVID-19 can survive on surfaces for many days. In fact, the virus was found to still be active on surfaces inside one cruise ship 17 days after passengers had left the ship.

According to several reports from reliable institutes, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), a temperature of 71°C or greater is recommended to kill or deactivate most viruses. The Optima steamer produces steam that is approximately 135°C at the gun tip and over 71°C at 10cm away from the steam gun. By carefully ensuring that the steam is applied from distances of less than 10cm surfaces of all types can be rapidly disinfected.

Steam SA is prepared to offer their services to governments of all levels to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We believe that the rapid vehicle sanitation services we provide could help emergency services and the taxi and chauffeur industry remain safe throughout this pandemic.
